I found this at an old cellar hole last fall and was just wondering if anyone knows what it is. It is copper and 7-3/4" long and around 3/4" diam. at the top.My best guess is that it was a stake pushed into the ground that you would put a flag or something like that in.Do you know what it really is?Fill me in.Thanks,Bootstrap

Don't know what it is, but what it could be is a fid. Used when splicing rope. The "bitter end" is pushed into the fid and then it's much easier to feed the rope and braids through each other when splicing in joins or loops.

Just a thought.

Tobacco Spear?
Good guess deforge,it sure looks like one initially, but the opening appears a little small (3/4 in.) to fit on the end of a tobacco stick and it's made of copper.I've used a many tobacco spear in the past and never saw a copper one. That fact is the best clue for id'ing this which is what SWR is going for with the lightning rod end or tip.I'm clueless myself as to it being anything else but that. :-\
