Definitely not part of a musket or rifle, pistol, etc. Maybe off a piece of furniture, or an old trunk?

Here is a photo of a drawer pull,Chippendale style. Made of brass.I think that is what you have there.Yeah,I'd much rather find an ancient gun part too.Sorry!
