Or maybe a collar stud? Label pin? part of a toy? Says "police" in the center and has a button type stud in the back. It seems to be cast pot metal, so, not high quality jewelry. The lighting makes it look brassy, but, it's actually a dull gray color. Found at a beach producing old coins and relics.

Cudamark, In all my years of collecting, I have never seen one of these little guys passed off as a department issued insignia. I think it is a well crafted toy badge that may have come in a set. If it was a cuff link, it would catch on everything and get yanked out of the sleeve, ya think? Also a possibility of it being a lapel stud pin. Sub 8-)

does it look like the stud could be removed?

I agree with those that say toy. In my 18 year in policing I've never seen anything like it and can say it would be extremely unlikely it was ever uniform issued. Nice find none the less.

It's one piece cast. Any ideas on age if it's a toy or not?

this one was on ebay as a toy badge with the exact one piece cast.
