So far about this year about 25 but still looking!!

Only 9 so far...but still lookin..

who cares?

I go out for the fun of it and the exercise. You might find a buried treasure, great, you might find clad, that's good too.

You need to just learn to enjoy metal detecting for what it is, and not expect to get rich off it, and not covet others finds.

When you time is right, you will be in the right place and find something nice, you can't force it, and if you worry about it too much it'll just make you miserable.

Finding silver is nice, finding gold is nicer of course, but don't become obsessed with it to the point where you miss the whole point of the hobby in the first place.

I was in your place many years ago, just new starting out, reading all the stories etc of everyones super finds, and every time Id go out and bomb it'd be like, god dammit, when am *I* going to find silver, or something really good...

Well years later, I have learned, if you sweat it, it won't happen, if you just go with the flow, be happy just to be alive and healthy enough to go detecting in the first place, it just happens for you.

Remember, this is supposed to be fun.

I no what you are saying, i do it for fun. that is my number #1 reason why i do this great hobby, its just ok to throw the dog a bone once in a while. (metaphor) lol

Well there ya go, ya got it wrong already.

You don't throw the dog a bone, you BURY the bone and make the dog dig it up for you, and in the process, dig up that silver coin ya been lookin fer ;D

It's all in the technique boy, im tellin ya heeyah!!

Depends on how often I get out, this is my worst year since 2001 and my best was 360, first year with my Minelab.

And my answer would be................not really enough.

I didn't take the question at any more than face value (coin pun?), and I mean no offense to anyone who did. I found 3 silver coins last year and 2 so far this year. I had just as much fun finding mid-1800's pennies and the 2-center ["SHOW ME THAT WREATH ON THE BACK & I'M HAPPY"].

I've had a ton of fun in only 2 seasons at this great hobby. You all know the thrills of digging up something really neat, whether it's a relic or a coin or jewelry. It's like the incredulity you feel in the instant that the last slot machine reel clunks in place with the third 'Double Diamond' symbol.
Add to that the focus of watching the display and listening to the tones as you hunt, good fun for the noggin. I guess that's why we call it 'dirtfishing'. Use your head and you get good at it.

HH to you, Rosevelt, and to everybody reading the T.F. forum!

10 up to now.... 2 in October...

Hehe, I'm surprised this thread hasn't sparked off more debate...

Ok, I'll bite. I'm at around 220-ish, I think :P And although I agree wholeheartedly with Ascholten, it's a nice little goal to have and makes things a bit more interesting. But then again it's all relative; dig enough of anything and you want something different, a bit more rare. (Well, actually it's always nice to see a shiny silver come out of the hole 8) )

I need some OOOLD stuff though... mmm, oooold stuff...

I'm at 52, so far. I'm gonna try to break 100, we'll see how it goes.

120 or so this year,, it's my main target though, and i agree,, indians are awesome too... some aren't in areas that produce a lot of lost older coins though......

try an older home or 2... you'll break the little curse ya got goin.... ;D

I know someone who has 532 this year! :o ;) :D

That's me, Kirk buddy... ;D ;D
532 and counting.....it's so rewarding to set goals and reach them, even in detecting..this year, I've surpassed my goal of 500 wilvers....now, I'm pushing for 600...I came down with chronic fatigue syndrome last year, and have been off of work ever since...I started detecting last December to get my body back into some shape...it was so so hard at first....I could only detect for 15 minutes before I was completely spent...after finding that I had celiacs disease(wheat/gluten intolerance), I began eating a stricked diet which, when combined with detecting, I started to gain my stamina back....some 9 months later, I now can detect the whole day with a few breaks in between...this was my biggest milestone for me this year by far. When I'm detecting, I do admire the scenery around me, the peacefulness, wildlife, etc. For me, the harder I try, and the more I concentrate, the more I find. I remember my md'ing buddy calling me the other day while I was detecting. He told me he had just got home with 5 wilvers. I had only 2 at the time. I said to myself, I can do better. By the end of the day, I had 10 wilvers. So detecting can be whatever you set your mind to it....it can bring you much satisfaction in attaining your set goals, great exercise, never ending comaradarie with your hunting buds, great scenery(feels like I'm always on vacation when I go 'tecting), and least of all, make you rich.

I, like many others, detect for the oldies....I love digging up old items that were lost 50 or more years ago. Digging silver is so much fun, truely addicting for me...just seeing that shiny coin come out of your 7" plug always brings a smile to my face. Hope everyone gets their "silver fix" ::)
