I found a 1944 Portuguesa coin in San Benito along with a 1933 d penny and a 1939 penny and lots of Zink pennies and of course nails and pull tabs .

Ah 50 centavos! I used to carry plenty of those when I was younger. Being first generation American born of portuguese parents. Thanks for the fond memories! Mike

HA!! a putter head..that is so funny..to me at least..coz when I tell the wife that I am going out to detect, I say "I'm going out to 'putt' around for a while"...Very nice Centavos and the wheats are nice too, seems like the ground was very forgiving as they appear to be in great shape!..nice stuff..nice pics..thanks for sharing..ddf

I was thinking the same thing. I remember the portuguese money that my parents brought with them when they moved here and seeing those coins in moms coin box.

I once went there when I was in the Navy that was the first thing I thought of when I found it I went to Lisbon I hope I spelled it correct
