HEY GUYS AND GALS

Up 5:30 again today..... -9 and snowing lightly sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Waited for cousin ED to pick me up at 6:15.... I waited til 6:30... no ED.... phone didn,t ring either.

So off I went...figured he said screw this and went back to bed...he didn,t go yesterday as was too cold.

Decided to try another spot....went to low water...only there about 20 minutes and nice loud signal on the CZ 21.

Kicked a couple rocks away ....lotsa hot rocks ....and the signal was still there. Dig...dig..gravelly and muck...got the signal outta the hole ...out with the pinpointer..and had a hard time finding it in all the muck but knew it wasn,t a musket ball this time as i had the muck all flattened out.

Grabbed a hand full of mud and sure enough I had it in my hand....figured was a coin until I found a puddle of water to wash it....didn,t know it was a Royal Provincial until my eyes started watering again trying to see threw the dirt and it is not as clear as the first one I found.... put a big grind on my face.....very happy with this find.!!!!!

Moved further to the west after going over the button spot really good.... detector screamed out again like it was on a big piece of iron...looked down and didn,t see anything on top.....the mortar frag looked like the rest of the rocks as it has barnacles.....then knew exactly what it was as Romeo showed me a piece of one . Might even be a piece of the one he posted a few days ago...think he has 4 pieces of one that match together....will give this piece to him and maybe he will get it all someday...make a great puzzle !!!

It's so nice for you to have history in your area, makes and keeps the detecting so interesting!

Correct IH.....

Sure is a big plus....keeps the finds plentiful and nice....an area without history would be much more challenging to detect for sure.

Never know what your gonna find in this neck of the woods.

Nice finds - hows the CZ21 working for you

CZ 21 is working great as you can see !!!!

The hot rocks in ALL METAL mode are very irritating. The colder it is the worse the hot rocks seem to be.

But if you switch over to DISCRIM 1 / volume 10 / sense maxed to 10 .....the hot rocks all but disappear and its silence in the head phones.

I prefer to hunt in ALL METAL and then switch to discrim to check iffy targets.

Used DISCRIM 2 in a junky area yesterday...pulled out a big copper and the silver merc...worked great.

My arm never gets tired swinging it with the belt mount ...I LIKE IT !!!

Wow! Poseidon did pay it up! Now go back and see what his wife's got for ya! (know her name?) lol Loved the title btw ;)

Don,t know her name...but would gladly call her SWEETY if she gave up some more goodies from the sea.!!!

Nicely done...that frag has the right thickness for sure!

Looks like that button spent more time in the water, but always a good find.

I want one of those Rivers next year for Christmas!

Ya ..thats what I was thinking also.... although the edges are complete... the bumps or blisters are most likely from too long in saltwater ..as you said.

Being almost to low water would put it covered in saltwater at least 8 hrs more a day than the 1st one ...times that by 200+ years... adds up fast !!

Big difference between the 2 RP buttons. But I still love it !!

Wow, great finds and congrats! Now, if that Mortar Frag is just one piece and Romeo has 4 more pieces to it, what in the hell were they firing at the enemy, a Volkswagen Beetle!!??

Frank

Romeo has a post up on Todays Finds...he showing the 2 big pieces he found and thgey don,t even make up a 1/3 of the mortar.

I,m like you...what the hell were they firing !!!!

Take a big amount of powder to fire that any distance. !!!

I know where there is 1/3 mortar size piece fully intact..... I found it last summer but didn,t know what it was until i seen Romeo,s pieces.

It is very heavy..at least 25 lbs....gonna go get it as soon as the ground un-thaws...god knows when that will be thou.

Man you've been in a real slump this winter buddy! Hopefully things pick up for you this spring :-) those buttons are such a great piece of history! It might warm up this weekend man...fingers crossed

They are early 1600s to late 1700s for the most part.....

Last year I found about 20 total.... now I got 3 jars full...at least 4-500.

I hate to even see them now...its always--- I hope it is not a musket ball his time !!

I got no idea what to do with them all...is there a sale for them ? ...I would think that they make a good tourist souvenir....

Man, when i dig a signal on my property i think "Please be a musketball!" Mine date 1835-1842 from a US army encampment on my property during the Second Seminole War. A coinstore here in tallahassee sells old bullets for $3 apiece :)

YA... I seen on EBAY and places that sell Revolutionary War items they sell musket balls for $2.50-$3 a piece.

Some people "try" to sell em for more.

Anyone wanna buy 400 of them ?????????????? hehe

What some of those sellers claim is that those balls were fired in the heat of battle, if in fact they came from a noted battle site; thing is, round balls were used regularly up to the 1860s and beyond, for battles, hunting, competitions, what have you
Yours, most likely just for hunting, good luck squeezing some big bucks out if them, but some people might buy them for the novelty

my local scrapper gives 69 cents a pound!

Got a couple nice jars I filled..they look nice on the shelf in the corner case in the living room... 3rd bottle is a big liquor bottle almost full now...would prolly trade it for a full bottle of good liquor !!!
