I dug this iron sword the other day and did some electrolysis to it. I used the electrolysis as a side science project for my son who is in 1st grade and at home due to the virus. I also dug this terracotta clay pipe. I believe the sword is a 1796 British Cavalry Sword. It was dug in the low country of SC.

totally awesome Brian ! always look forward to your amazing finds !

Incredible find and equally incredible learning experience!

Nice work on that!

Oh man you needed to give that beauty a dip in hot wax! That flash run will continue growing as I’m sure you’re seeing. As of now you’ll need to remove that rust before proceeding. Outstanding find however

Close... the 1796 British Cavalry Sword... heavy and light... did not have that guard... it had spikes.

Hmmmm kletme check something.

OH before I do... This is stellar hit man... super well done.

PS>.. I have seen this before... bb.

EDIT - Ok... so it is... :/... its the "light" version verses the "heavy"... yours is the light

Knew I saw it before :P ~

Awesome! That will display really well. I would hate to be the guy who was using that when it broke way back then.

That hilt and blade fragment cleaned up really well. Nice job.

Wow!! That is too cool!!

Bharpring, Fantastic looking sabre. The electrolysis really cleaned this piece up. As already said, this will be one great addition to your display and collection. All nice finds and Saved History. One Hewge Rebel Yell goes out from one fellow Georgian to another. Well Done and Thanks for sharing. Thought: that British Cavalry sabre was most likely broken by one of our U.S. Dragoons.:usflag:

Great find thanks for the pictures

Wow you really worked a miracle on that thing. It went from a crusty rusty lump to superb display piece! I can't wait to find something worthy of making or buying an electrolysis kit! Thanks for sharing this amazing find!

Beautiful recovery! Hard to believe there was a time when people were still carrying swords around this country lol. Keep up the good work!

Very cool relic
Congrats
