Went on a hunt today at a part that was a army fort during the mid 1800s then during the 20s to 60s the state mental hospital had farms for the patients to take care of anyone have any ideas on what this is ? IMG_3013.webp

Kinda hard to tell. We have wheat pennies that look just like it that were either shot with a 22 or just punched!!!:dontknow:

That thing looks tiny, and the edge is sorta irregular, so my guess is either a furniture button or a leather button that originally had pointed tabs to hold it in place.

I agree with Trapperart's "maybe" suggestion... it looks like the brass back of a 2-piece button, missing the front and the thread-loop.
