Possible ID Tag

This was my first real find. I'm definitely a noob. This piece is about 3 inches wide and 1-1/2 to 2" tall.

Looks like an ID or part number tag for something? Could have been on a part from a tractor, airplane to a tag on a shipping container. Looks like the kind of tags you'd see on things from the 2nd world war era. That alpha numeric code means something to something? Did you plug it all into Google??
