Taking opinions on this one as always. I think I have it down to a Metalic seal. You can see in the link below how it shares the same size and "Southern Express". This one states on one side "Pat. Jul 14,1857" and on the other " Southern Express" with I believe "Rome,GA" in the middle. I think that is what it is even though there wasn't a railroad any where around here till the 1900's.

Also there's a bonus pic in here. I picked this up in the plowed field. It feels like hard rubber and is about 1" . There have been other golf balls in the field so I am leaning toward inside of golf ball. However there has also been pottery, relics and marbles picked up in the field. So if you recognize let me know. I would say it has no real bounce when dropped and is hard to the touch.

Last one is the inside of a golfball after all the elastic bands have been cut off. (lost) If punctured it should be full of white gunk lol,so DON'T! :laughing7:

Yeap, Lead Seal for a number of uses :icon_thumright:

The other item is the centre of a golf ball.
