It is magnetic.

Welcome to TreasureNet! Glad to hear I didn't turn you off to to posting further finds by my joking around. There are folks here who can ID a wide range of items. This one is tough, being caked up iron. It likely wouldn't hurt the item underneath with some light tapping with a hammer. -but that's just my view, and others may suggest a softer gentler approach... Or even electrolysis (easier than is sounds!)

I'm really curious to find out what this is. Don't give up so soon! The meteorite people may not be on yet. I've never seen a meteorite in person and they all have different characteristics. Magnetic/non magnetic, shiny bits or dull surface, textures are all over the place https://meteorites.asu.edu/meteorites/meteorite-appearance

Regardless what it is, it's the fact you found something that looks odd makes it pretty cool
