Possible musket ball?

Went detecting down at the river and found this possible musket ball.
I am far from a ballistics experts so help and guidance is needed.
The only reference to compare is a 45 muzzle loading shot.
Larger so I am thinking 50+?

What do you think?
I hope these pictures have enough detail.

I think it is a musket ball. If it is very heavy and made of lead then probably yes, looks very similar to the ones I find in Germany on the fields. Sometimes I find 20 or 30 in a hunt...I usually just throw them away because too heavy to carry but over there it is probably a rare find. :-)

Looks like one to me. Did you find it in the water? If so that would explain the lack of oxidizing (a white coating). If it was in the ground it should be a shade of white.

Yes it was in water at one time. 3 years ago they took down several dams and opened up areas that were under water.
It was about 3inches down in the mud.

It very well could be modern. I'm a traditional muzzle loader and have shot thousands of round balls. If I had to guess by the pic I would say .50 caliber or there about. Some day a detectorist or archaeologist will find them in my backyard and determine that a battle took place here when it was only a reenactor traditional muzzle loader shooting because he likes ramrods and the smoke and flash from Black Powder.
