Relic Hunting
I found these yesterday at a old homesite with finds dating throughout the 1800's.
I believe the first relic is the tongue part of a 2 piece buckle, but possibly horse tack related, being that it's iron and is 4 inches wide.
The second relic is a nose cap, but I am not finding a match for it. it is formed for a octagon barrel, the bottom is channeled all the way across for a ramrod with one mounting screw in the center of the channel and the measurements of the piece are 1 1/8" long and 1 inch wide.
the third relic I am not really sure what its a part of.

any help will be greatly Appreciated, Bill

First object:
At 4 inches wide, it is probably one of the variations of a Plow Boy Back Band hook. See the scan (made by Creskol) below, from a late-1800s/early-1900s harness eqipment catalog,

Hello Nova Treasure, Your third relic is a handle hinge for a metal bucket. Two of them would have been riveted to opposite sides of the the top of the bucket with the heavy gauge wire handle bowed between them, hooked through the holes in the hinges. Sub 8-)

Thanks I AGREE it would be a variant of this type. I have found alot of various type of buckles in my 24 yrs of detecting but the first at 4 inches wide.

Thanks, I was thinking it might be from the Kentucky Long rifle, but I have one that i found years back and the only difference is it has two mounting screws instead of one. I will do some further research on it.

Thanks for that Id, I really had no idea what it was used for. this site I am digging is one that we have dug some very nice relics from including a early Riflemans militia button,Large cents and a Gold wedding band from the late 1800's. I bought a new machine and it was fun finding these relics after it's been hit so much already. I also pulled the bottom piece of a arrowhead out of a dug hole.
