Among the hundreds of ceramic and other aggregate shards I have found on this site, these 3 seem to be the oldest or most unique. They were found in near the James river in Surry county Virginia. Can anyone tell me if they are Native American artifacts?

My opinion and I'm no expert but it looks modern to me. I don't see any temper that's associated with Native American pottery (shell, bone, grit). Some of those pieces may even have glaze from being fired in a kiln and marks from being turned on a potter's wheel.

I believe tdog nailed it. I see no shell, sand or any other fiber for temper. JMO historical time period.

The way they are made, I'm guessing early colonial pottery. These are nice.

Might be salt or alkaline glazed crockery and early colonial like smokeythecat mentioned. The larger piece looks kind of like soapstone though, is it slick when it's wet? Hard to date them when you can't have them in hand but I would definitely keep them and look for more. I have found some crockery in my creek where I normally find Native American pottery and the local archeologist loved seeing them, they have a story and it's pretty cool. Nice finds!
