Hello, Did a lunchtime hunt yesterdayat an old woods foundation site and found this cool item. I researched it and it is a Black powder flask dispencer made by Dixon and sons from England. I searched this site before and alot of iron for the Ace 250. Only had a half hour this time and couldnt find any of the flask yet, but still hopeful:icon_thumleft: Take care and God Bless!

correct I.D.

You have a nice pice of history. This item has been called many things but the correct one is, powder measure. The complete artifact would be called "powder flask" Your piece is the measuring spout. Unlioke smokeless powder, which is measured by weight, black powder is measured by volume. (drams) which is old English. 1 dram is equal to .75 of a teaspoon. You measured your load for the musket by holding your finger or thumb over the end of the measure and tip the flask upsidedown and push the lever over to release the powder.when the measure is full, you close the lever and turn the flask back over. This gives ato increase the charge. full charge. Your mewasure is adjustable by twisting the outer shell to increase the amount of the charge. I hope this helps.Les

Thank you everyone! I appreciate all the comments and information. I have seen some with Dixon and Sons SHEFFIELD, and Dixons improved Patent. Any idea of a rough date.
