powers corner- colonial tavern

Here's another one I found called powers corner,now a near-ghost town called west brimfield. I say near because there are still people living there,but no businesses or industry,and the railroad that used to go through there is gone as well.Go to historic map works,select massachusetts,brimfield 1870. Look at the northwestern corner of the map, you will see the residence of an N.Powers. This was the location of Powers tavern in the colonial days. There is an abandoned house there now, it hasnt been occupied since 1986. the property is owned by the Palmer paving corporation now, you will have to seek permission from them. I havent detected this site myself, but I have looked at it. It is very trashy and overgrown, but I'm sure a diligent hunter could find something of interest there. Good hunting!

The old prison camp in Rutland, Barre, and Hubbardston is all DCR land.....

And part of the watershed area too..... They wont allow MDing in the area
