I've been saving all the pre-1960 Jefferson Nickels I've come across for quite some time now. This weekend I finally went through all the ones I have, and I realized I've got way too many of them. But before I send some of them back into the wild, I wanted to see if any of you fellow collectors need any dates to complete your sets. I'd much rather see them go to a fellow collector than just go back into the wild. So if you need any dates just send me a Private Message and let me know. Happy Hunting to everyone!!

Hmm check them for a 1950D, this one is worth a premium.

50d is the key of the jefferson series, though you could buy a MS one with a wonderful purple tone for under $15.

I've got plenty if anybody wants to trade... here's a couple pics to give you an idea...

Here's my bag of all the circulated examples; No keys or semi-keys in here.

Here's the box of AU/BU spares, I have more in rolls...

And here's a couple examples I found recently that didn't make muster to go into my Dansco...

If you want a list of what dates I'm looking for in AU or better, send me a PM and we can compare what we need and figure something out that works for both of us.

Solid Rolls, I like your Avatar The Great Clemente was always my favorite player. It was a sad day indeed when he died. You might want to keep certain dates on the Jeffs, nickels unlike halves don't tie up that much money. I would be more than happy to list the dates for you if you like. Good Luck. Dennis.

Thank to everyone for replying so far. I'm aware of which nickels carry a premium and which ones don't. Fact is I've got a bunch of them and am just looking to free up some space and some $$$. Rather than just dump them back into the wild, I wanted to see if anyone here needed any of them first.

The modern US nickel has melt value near or above face value.

When I was doing nickels, I decided that since I was more or less date checking, that I would keep all pre-1960. My logic was that it can't hurt to hang onto some Jefferson nickels if nothing else, for melt value speculation and if I'm going to keep a few hundred in face value, might as well be the early dates. I haven't done nickels for many months though and so I don't have a big hoard.

If you don't want to tie up any funds in CuproNickel bullion, then dump 'em. If you want to keep some for bullion, might as well keep the 40's and 50's

I feel your pain. I'm addicted to nickels (2 boxes per day!) I'm up to my eyeballs in pre-60's.

Auctions in my area usually sell rolls of pre 60 Jeffersons for $10 a roll.. might want to try auctioning them off.
