Hello everyone,
I brought this pre-columbian face/figurine at a market in France and I am wondering if anyone could tell me what region it is from?
The story went (which I believe) was that this women was selling her parents, who had died's collection. I brought some great rock crystal and some pill boxes for my daughter. There was quite a few pre-columbian items for sale at a very cheap price (5 euro).
It was obvious that she just wanted to get rid of her parents stuff. She didnt know much about the item in the photo but she knew it was very old and pre columbian. This area of france is one of the richest and also her parents house backed onto the street of the market so I know she was legit.
Have you guys got any ideas about the origins of this piece (the figurine not the skull)?
I would love to know not for sale value but for posterity.
I am kicking myself because I could have had 5 or 6 pieces for a very small amount but Iam poor at the moment and could only afford the one.
