I think that nail may be 10kt. Or 10dwt. I can't remember which! It is a pain in the knee to get old. Can't remember something.

Yeah, I thought I was doing something wrong with the settings cause every couple feet it was going off but when I dug them it was a stash of bottle caps and beer cans. All this was in a 4 foot area but had to take off due to the sun setting. This area must be virgin. I just hope I get a coin before the snow falls.

Today was my first time out and getting the hang of things I got these amazing finds.
OK, I know it's nothing but I'm defiantly going out again tomorrow.

Sweet stuff man, I just got my first metal detector on Tuesday, and I've had it out twice...I haven't found anything valuable or are yet either (as you can see from my thread in this section), but I still think it's exciting to dig stuff up lol.

Good luck tomorrow! I too am planning on going out again tomorrow!

When I was shopping I was looking at the ACE 350, before I bought my X-terra. Once you've used it a few times let me know what you think of it!!!

Marshall.

Oh you'll get a coin, no worries there, it's not rocket science, but you will need to dig a hundred or so holes, and learn what to ignore.

All of us have had that day! Heck, I still have days like that and I have been swinging a loop for close to 20 years. The good news is that you finds will get progressively better and better as you learn your detector. Good luck tomorrow!!! I was planning on going out tomorrow but it looks like central PA is going to get hit with several inches of that nasty, frozen, white stuff already this year.

I honestly love to see those targets on a field. It means that it isn't picked clean. I went to a park today that I have had a real hard time with. I finally dug a wheatie there. I am not a noobie either. Luck would just have it that I never have a good day there.

I would never feel ashamed about digging junk. You would not believe the finds that ring up as junk. Keep a positive attitude and keep hitting it. You will have your first silver in no time.

It takes time, if you enjoy the junk digging you will get there one day,..

the more junk you did, the better you will get to know your machine. good luck to you

First off, welcome to TreasureNet Nate! :hello:

You made a great decision in buying the ACE 350! I bought mine in November last year.
It takes time to get to learn it's 'language', I probably read the manual 10 times before I fully understood it. Don't get discouraged if you only find trash for a while, the silver will come in time. I like to keep my 'sensitivity' set at 3 bars and I keep it in the 'jewellery mode' most of the time so I won't miss anything. :icon_thumright: This winter I'm going to trade in my ACE and put it towards the AT Pro! ;D

If you want to 'click' on my name, you can view some pics of what I found this year with my ACE, it's really a great machine!

Best of luck to you Nate,
Dave

Welcome! Great words from Pennyfarmer...
If your getting signals, you'll dig something good eventually.
Research will help, but treasure can be found in the most unlikely places.
keep on swinging

There is one eternal law of metal detecting, and like the law of gravity, it is always true: You can only find it if it is there. Not there? You won't find it.

those finds are amazing. congrats on some nice rust

Don't despare Nate. You've got a whole world out there just waiting for you to detect. You've only discovered 4 feet of it so far. I got my detector in 2009 and this year was the best yet. This summer, I found my first gold ring, silver coins and plenty of clad coins. So far this year I'm just $5.50 short of $50 in quarters not to mention all the nickels, dimes and pennies that I've found. Try detecting a school yard or a local fairgrounds or maybe a beach with a concession stand. They're good places to learn and practice...You'll be finding coins in no time. Keep reading the posts here and you'll learn alot. Good hunting.

stick with it and you will finds some amazing things! Welcome to the hobby and thanks for sharing!

Thanks to everyone for welcoming me. Its nice to be apart of a forum where others help and answer questions. I've been apart of a few where you ask a question and catch hell for it.

Welcome to the most amazing treasure hunting site on the web bar none!

You are going to need to get my book "COMPREHENSIVE DETAILED STUDY OF PULLTABS 1972-2011" HH
