All Treasure Hunting
This weekend a US friend of my Dad is visiting & he wants to try detecting again. Problem is that last visit he tried for the first time & got a good Roman coin at the end of a 30 minute hunt (that was all the time he had spare). So his expectations maybe high & we have no good fields to do at the moment. Therefore, today we tried to track down an area worth hunting.
Started on a massive Barley stubble field which had a Roman Road running across it but could only find bits & pieces (best find a Medieval cauldron foot).
So went to a field which was a bit roughly raked but was one of the first Roman Sites we discovered 10 years ago. Problem is we have sucked off every nail & signal going, I was lucky to get our only scrappy coin this month!
So we are still unsure where to go :-\

we are so close I can taste it  but we have a huge problem this year. Every good field is Wheat & it will all come up at the same time :P

Haven't phoned him yet! The Barley around here hasn't been cut, but I'm going to give him a call tomorrow after seeing Daryl's coins this evening :o

Well if all else fails, you may want to try this to please the visitor. Go to one of your already hunted sites and bury a few pieces that you would have no problem parting with. Your guest can hunt and will find something that will make his trip a memorable one. :icon_thumleft:

Know any land owners in Southwestern England? :D

I hear the tot lots are great digging this time of year.

I'd love to dig tot lots in the UK. In all metal. ::)

Cann't imagine Cru doing the tot lots.

I'm finding it even harder to imagine, although I did start my career as a kid doing the odd one...

It's feast or famine when it comes to field hunting.
