It's a nice one with the Waterbury backmark and upright shank. Found Saturday. It took awhile for me to get to cleaning it.

That's a nice button. You must live in a good Maryland location to find all the nice relics you find. Happy Hunting!
 

Nice find, any tips on how you were able to clean. I always struggle with fragile brass items.
 

It was encrusted I (against my own advice, but this is still a common button), I let it sit in Parson's Sudsy Ammonia for about 10 minutes. Rinsed it off, then took the Andre's pencils to it to get bigger pieces of green off. Still didn't look too good so did that over. At the end I put a coating of renaissance wax on it.

It literally popped out from between two rather large rocks, which I had to move. Got a bunch of other buttons too.
