That's funny, but, what if someone with the same name did something bad and was on a Federal list or whatever - you want to be the one arrested? It's happened. This information that is available is not always used "responsibly" - though I have looked up people's backgrounds before hiring them for the store I worked for.

If you find someone has your credit report (without you giving permission) - THAT you can prosecute for. Even though you can get a credit report (your own) on line, through federal law (and most state laws) your credit report cannot be given out to anyone that you have not given permission to.(some companies share the information, because they are related - like Ford and Ford Motor Credit company, or different apartment buildings owned by the same person or company, which is legal, as long as you made an application to one of the related companies). Still, they are not allowed to put them in public.

Any company that puts that credit report up is liable for Federal and State felony charges. (and lawsuit).
