We live in farm country 8 miles from Gettysburg, PA. According to the historical society Native tribes lived on our land. Until 20 years ago, this was Amish land. Yesterday we were working on a huge rose garden we are putting in, digging down about 18-24".
We took the dirt and rocks out to use as a layer in new raised beds. After we dumped the rose garden dirt into a bed, I proceeded to pull out the usual zillion shale rocks and came across this. It is lighter in weight than shale. I hope you can see from the pics the thick side of the top triangle appears to be worked in groves with raised areas on either side of the grooves. The sharp, thin side has chips or notches either on purpose? or from use? or nothing. What I call the broken side appears to have some part of the thing missing. In any case, this was a weird one. Thanks for any info you can provide.
