Problem with headphones

Twice in the last few times I've gone detecting, after I connected my yellow, waterproof headphones up to my Minelab Manticore, the beeps only came through the detector's speaker - not through my headphones. I was alarmed, thinking something had stopped working. The first time it happened, I just restarted my detector, and suddenly I could hear the beeps in my headphones. Whew! But the second time (yesterday), after connecting like normal and hearing the "I'm here" beep in my headphones, I detected for about 15 minutes before I realized I wasn't hearing anything. I had to unscrew/rescrew in my headphones twice and turn my detector on and off twice before the sound came through the headphones again.

Has anyone run into this before? It's a new detector and headphones (six months old).

Check and be sure you are not getting water in your headphones jack, be sure O-ring is seated properly.
