I'm thinking a Hotchkiss 37mm

Most WW1 37mm are marked with a date and factory marks.

My thought is WW1 or earlier British 1 Pounder. It looks like the projectile has been driven too far into the casing if you look at the arrows I added to your pic you can see the edge of the casing has a gap where the shell goes into it, and a bulge in the case neck, possibly caused by the driving band. If you can carefully remove the projectile there may be more info on it, and you'll be able to tell if it was a base fused explosive shot or a solid shot.
