I got permission to detect on the former site of an early 1900's Farm. The Old Bird from next door, Robert, even stopped over to give me a fairly good layout of what once was. Off I went with high hopes but it became clear deep into hour #3 that this site had been hit before and hit hard. Plenty of low tones and junk, a couple of clad pennies and dimes and a 2007 Virginia State Quarter which was shocking given its depth and the age of the location. HOWEVER I would NOT be denied at least a couple of cool finds so here they are. An old Zippo Lighter found at 4 inches, a Country Boy / Country Gal Restaurant Token , some sort of tag that I believe is from a Country Club here in Ohio and last but not least. A way cool 1950's Derringer Cap Gun. Even cooler because that dang action still works on it ! Cock the hammer and pull the trigger and SNAP ! It was at around the 6 inch mark and is the second toy Gun, the other isn't complete, that I found in the past 3 weeks. The Token was toast but I don't sell my finds anyways. All in all not too let down but was hoping for that big Silver. Maybe next time.
