Found this one about 6 inches down in my yard (house is 90 years old and previously a farm).
Any info would be appreciated.

Can't find a copy of thisone, but most likely from the Proximity Company, which was made up of the Proximity Mill and Paper works. Probably from the company store for workers. If I find any more info, I will let you know.

Here is a site with their history:

I agree with 5woodluther :icon_thumright: Nice company store token :icon_sunny: How old is it? 1 cent a low token denomination.

This is a trade token.

I can not read the name of the store.
But it was a store in the city of Proximity,
North Carolina.

Nice trade token find,

Sent the pics to the North Carolina Collection Gallery at UNC Chapel Hill and they agree it's most likely from the Proximity plant company store in Greensboro although they don't have one in their collection.
Sure would like to date this one!!

The token says Proximity Store. The token says it is
in Proximity.

So who is right, the North Carolina Collection Gallery
at UNC Chapel Hill, or the token?

I bet these folks knew,

Both are right. Proximity is no longer a city, but now part of Greensboro.

Maybe post in the token and tags forum :dontknow:

Know what it was, but know very little about the actual token. Must be very rare/scares.

I like it :icon_thumright: very cool token :icon_queen:
