Didn't read the negative posts til just now. Anyone who feels they need to use their energy & time to put others down should re-examine their priorities in life. Andi

Last year month of August my brother and I were detecting an area that did not look promising. Then the AT Pro registered 92 with good sound on pro mode. Ring maybe? I had silver lunker rings register in low 90's. I dug a 6" plug. No ring in plug. I carefully dug couple inch's deeper. Pulled the loose dirt out with my hand. I seen the rim edge and knew it was large. I grabbed it and pulled it out of the darkness and held it in front of me. I looked at my brother and asked him this thing real? He comes over and saids hell yea thats a 1922 peace dollar. I couldn't believe I found it only mding for 5 months.

I covered the plug up and waved the coil over the plug and there was a 92 hit again. I got my brother attention and said to him. Another coin in here. You dig it. I happy what I got. He pulls out the plug and puts his garrett pointer in the hole and off to the left where the peace dollar was was another strong signal. He pulls out a 1934 walking liberty. The area was close to a large pine tree 8 feet away just at the edge of the lowest branch. Thoughts do come across your mind as it did for me. Were they stolen and got lost while on the run? Did someone take them from there parents collection to take to school for show and tell? I don't know and will never know. But I do know what we got out of that same hole. The area does date back to 1928. We found silver coins like Barber dimes, Washington quarters, Mercury dimes and old war military buttons.

As for the 1922 peace silver dollar? It too looks like it was dropped after it was minted, but we know that not the case, it was with a 34 half dollar. I also found early 20's mercury dimes that looks just like it was dropped after they too were minted and yes we found some that were handled over the years. I will add this before I close. Where you do think you will find silver coins we just don't LOL. Where we do find them its amazing and makes you wonder about this hobby. Its exciting and its a thrill. What hobby can you do that pays you? Happy Hunting everyone.

Good examples Cru. The issue here is that the guys that put in the time and do all of the research and slog through the forest and dig millions of holes to find just a few awesome coins or relics feel a certain way when they believe somebody is being insincere. I personally cannot fathom someone posting something that they did not legitimately dig out of the dirt and put in the time to find. It's very strange to me. But I absolutely agree about not jumping on people with an accusatory tone. My personal believe is that if you believe something is not what it's said to be simply skip over it and don't say anything. If nobody gives these people any attention at all they will just disappear and figure out a different way to get attention elsewhere. But as I said prior it is a bit of a slap in the face to the people on here that stay up late researching and looking at my maps, then spending hours and days going out and dealing with the heat , the terrain, and the bugs to maybe make a nice find. At least those of us who are legit get to experience that incredible feeling when the hard work pays off and something great is pulled from the dirt. The fakers will never get that satisfaction. Best of luck out there everyone, Abe
P.s. Beez don't ever stop posting my friend. I can feel your passion about the hobby in your posts and it comes thru that you're legit. Please don't be scared to show a great find. Everybody that works hard like we do should have that satisfaction

very well said ahab

beautiful condition, probably wasn't in circulation long before it was lost.

The fact that my grandmother and grandfather were both in concentration camps during the Holocust. When they made it to the United States in 1954, they never went back!!!! They are in the Troy Record (newspaper) as a family that was a adapt a family program. I will show a print of that paper and since I'm being claimed as a lair, I will find a better site where you are not made fun of. By the way that wine place you said that they are from "DOES NOT SELL SHOT GLASSES". Do some research first before commenting!

So this one with the dark wards F on the bottom of the shot glass with eagle outline is also fake. That is a S.S symbol.

my grandparents came from Germany and we're both in concentration camps during World War 2. His brother was a high ranking S'S official.

That must have been awkward at Thanksgiving!

Maximum LOL!

I suggest that you refer to the dictionary entry for "research" before making such unbelievably ironic statements.

First of all, the items are not standard "shot glasses", as they likely have a capacity of 100 ml or greater. Second, similar items were common promotional giveaways from the 19th century onward and didn't need to be sold at all for them to attain a wide distribution.

Here is a picture of the "concentration camp" depicted on some of the glasses:
Genossenschaftskellerei Heilbronn-Erlenbach-Weinsberg e.G..webp

Here is a link to an eBay listing for 2 glasses from the firm:
Collectable German Souvenir Shot Glasses | eBay

Very very very very easy "research" will reveal other similar listings, images, etc.

If it is indeed true that they've never sold any glasses of any sort past or present (a claim which i trust about as much as the "holocaust" provenance), they could have been given to thousands of patrons paying for a wine-tasting tour or something of the sort over the years.

I don't think anyone is calling you a liar, but the good Lord almighty couldn't create someone more steadfastly misinformed if he spent an eternity trying. If you sincerely desire the facts about the glasses, as you claim, then you can start by accepting that they have no relation whatsoever to the painful past your progenitors lived through.

First of all no one makes fun of my family as was stated in the post before this last one. Second, you are not following the rules of this thread!

This has turned into the most bizarre thread I have ever seen. I believe I have lost a couple of IQ points. Gonna have to excuse myself from this one

I didn't read any post that called you a lair! Or a liar! I did read several which gave you specific information regarding your misinformed opinion that these are shotglasses which relate to concentration camps!

I don't see any eagle on that glass, and an F in a shield is the mark of Federal Glass Company which is an American company.

"F within a shield (shown)……….Federal Glass Company, Columbus, Ohio (1901-1980). This mark was first used in 1932. Maker of a huge variety of tableware, tumblers, shotglasses, toothpick holders, etc. Especially known for their lines of “Depression glass tableware so popular during the 1930s and 1940s, most of which is not marked."

GLASS MANUFACTURERS' MARKS ON BOTTLES & OTHER GLASSWARE~~ PAGE THREE

I'm not doubting you may have been told certain things about these items, but what you were told is far from accurate. Now, as I said I collected Third Reich items for many years, any real SS cups will have a makers name and year of manufacture, but....an item like that, even if it were owned by an SS officer at one time would not be issue marked SS in any way. There are plenty of examples of SS glasses and other glassware, but they were not issue marked. Liquor glasses were not issued, they would be a private purchase item. Here is a photo of a real period piece (not mine), not official issue, and the symbolism is quite obvious. The other pic shows a genuine SS tableware mark.

I wanted to know how you cleaned that peace dollar so maybe I could clean the silver eagle I dug. You did clean the peace dollar correct? If so how because I would love for my silver eagle to look good again. I posted a pic of it a few post ago. I did spend two years of my life in Germany and brought many items home and I have seen a glass that looked a lot like the one you posted and it was at a winery we visited and got a little tipsy at. I may even have the glass at my parents house next time I stop over there I'll pull it out and see if it's the same one. Anyway how did ya clean the peace dollar because I don't know how to shine up my silver eagle without ruining it. Thanks.

The name of the winery is on the glass.... what more proof do you need? I can guarantee you that particular glass is from that winery.

Oh for the love of god please let this thread die already, how does a thread like this get over two thousand views and ones with the finds we all hope for get 300? I'm bowing out of this one, may God be with us all lol

lol I think I will too.

I've tried my best to give some useful and accurate info, I'm going to have to let this one go as well

While I am quite sure that the glasses in question are quite a conversation piece, I doubt that many concentration camps gave out commemorative shot glasses.
