It looks like a spoke rim with the brake drum still attached.

No idea! Sure interesting looking.

It looks like a spoke rim with the brake drum still attached.

yep, late teens to early 20's wood spoke automobile rim and brake hub

Would that be considered a rare find? Or just a common find?

Looks as if it could be off an old mining cart? Is or has there been any working mines in the area historically? Coal, Salt, Phosphorous, anything?

It was found in the Hudson River in Stillwater ny near the Battle of Saratoga.

I was on the Hudson River bankment a little past the Stillwater bridge close to Bemis Heights location where the second Battle of Saratoga was fought. There are trails where Champlain canal lock 4 is located. There is dredging going on in the Hudson River between Mechanicsville and Stillwater. Maybe during the dredging, it could have been moved to the bankment side? It weights about 50 lbs.

Wow, your waay up stream. I am down by Forts Montgomery/Clinton and Verplancks point...is the Hudson just a trickle or a full fledged river?

Its definitely any early car rim/wheel with drum still attached, Maybe Model T or something...That thing had to have been a pain hauling back to the car..lol

It was very hard to get it out of the ground. I actually fell in the river lol. I do wonder what it is worth.

Should clean up nice to display.

Full fledged river. The Hudson River runs from Canada to NYC.

How would you clean it? Any suggestions would help out alot. Thank you.

My mistake, I didn't know what you meant by fully forged?
