Does anyone have a program or any tricks or suggestions that they would like to share that descriminates out pulltabs but accepts the copper nickle indian head pennies and nickles? I've been trying to create such a program based on the program in the Deus book using 8 khz but with such a big variety of pulltabs that I come a cross I can't notch out all of them without notching out copper nickle pennies and/or nickles. I'm set up so that most of the time pulltabs sound "clicky" or "scratchy" but still too many sound too good to pass up and I'm digging too much for comfort. Maybe this is a problem that I just have to get used to?????

Pull tabs, the bane of our hobby. You can manage a program to discriminate them out, but you will lose a lot of good targets in the process. I've yet to put my Deus into action on a real hunt, but does the XY screen provide any info like it does for a bottle cap?

Can't be done if you are looking for gold or nicks.

I have a detector it has a screen
and i discriminate out pull tabs all the time
and I can find most nickles
some old beaver tail pull offs
will trick me and i will dig just to find and old beaver tail pull tab
hardly ever a newer one the square ones
it's all in your V.D.I

I'm not going to discriminate out any gold...

Details my friend! I'm left to assume you are talking about an MXT.

The problem with pull tabs is they are circular...well at least the loop part, you can not discrim. or notch out a circular target, at least not at a huge cost.
