Nope, the magnet did not stick, and when you look at the broken ends, it is just solid pyrite, no core of metal

Maybe the hook like things are related to filled in cavities where Pyrite filled "empty" spaces in the rock.

Good point, perhaps they were bug holes, I never thought of that
