Q. Anybody own or know anything about the "Viper" Trident MD.

My partner just bought a "used" Trident Metal Detector. I saw they make a MD called the Trident.
Anybody own one and has previous experience with this MD.
Please post if anybody has any info and good luck with this MD.

My first detector was a Viper Trident , first coins I ever found were with it. Other than being a simple and basic machine not much more to say about it.

Thank you all for your inputs. I had a question because I read a hype ad about this brand that make it sound like it runs with the big dogs like Minelab. My partner paid $100 and did not know anything about it, this is why I wanted to check it out. It's dealer ads makes it sound like it picks up gold fairly easy under water and on land. ( I did not know if my friend should keep it or flip it.) Thanks.

Well if he has in now give it a try , that way he will know what that type of detector will do.
I would say that it will not take him long to move on up the line if he is going to get into detecting in any big way. If it was me I would sell it and get a Tesoro , now that one would get some good finds for him.

It's marketed as a water detector. Kellyco sells them. Sandman is right calling it a low end Chinese model. Most of what I've heard about them was awful. A few did ok. I'd save my money.

The only people saying this machine can run with the big dogs are the people selling them. You should do some running and run away from it!

Update: My patrner usually collects and sells Gold Ore. He got this used Viper trident for $100. He did not know anything and I have a Tesoro. I am going to have him sell the Viper and get a "Lobo Super traq". I think he will like it more. In my oppinion, I have seen the hand full of Gold jewlery said to be found ny this machine and It struck me that I hardly heard of this brand and it was advertising like you are going to have both hands full of Gold Jewlery? I know it take time & effort plus if you are not in the right place you WILL NOT MAKE THE HITS AS SHOWN! What gets me it is called a all purpose detector? I have never heard of one Detector that does it all! (That is like one size fits all lol.) Thanks for the into to all.

I just went on ebay today 3/14/2012 and they are selling for almost $350+. Funny thing... a seller claims it is "Powered by a 10 inch open search coil?" I never knew search coils gave power to run a metal detector lol ! Hummm, Sounds fishy.

if they are giving them away - then you know somethings wrong
I took it out once - could barely pick a quarter up more than a few inches
will sell you mine for $100 if you want it
would make a good machine for kids to play with at beach - bout it
