image.webpHappy Friday everyone! I’m a beginner Rockhound so I apologize in advance if I don’t know scientific or technical names of things... I’m still learning! I found this in my creek a couple of months ago and I’m interested in knowing exactly WHAT it is comprised of... from all the images I’ve looked at and articles/posts that I’ve read, I’m going to say it is a mixture of quartz/calcite/druzy. Comments are appreciated!

That's calcite. No quartz/druzy quartz in there. The druze you're seeing is just smaller crystals of calcite.

Good way to test for calcite is the acid test. Best thing to use is HCl (hydrochloric/muriatic/pool acid) but you can use white vinegar but it will give a much slower reaction. Put a drop on the specimen and watch for it to effervesce (bubbles). Acids will react to the calcium carbonate that calcite is made of.
