Hey guys, Happy new year!! This question can be answered by either user, I was wondering what audio mode you prefer? I think after testing and using the quattro that I prefer the ferrous mode. I can hear the difference between nickel, pull tab, etc... It seems easier to identify then the conductivity audio. ANyone else use the ferrous sounds?

Just got the quattro - been out a few times with it so far. I like it. I think the tone thing is a setting I will have to change.

How long have you had your Quattro? Have you got anything good with it yet?

I had my quattro for about 3 weeks now. At first its hard to get used to because it is so sensitive. I purchased the mastering the minelab quattro book and read it cover to cover. It definately helped me learn how to use it. I was in the regualr conductivity audio coin and jewlery mode. I crossaved the relic with the coin/jewelry and now my coin/jewelry mode has ferrous audio, which in my opinion is more efficient at deciphering what targets are what. I only used about 10 times and only in my yard. My yard is extremely trashy due to my house burned down 10 yrs ago and a new one was rebuilt on the same spot, so there are tons of nails, screws, and many other little metal objects. So far I have found about 4 dollars in change, mostly dimes, pennies, and a few quarters, oh and one nickel, which is hard it decipher. The ground is so damn hard due to the cold i can only get about 4-5 inches down. Good luck with your quattro and keep us updated on your finds

Explorer 2 user prefer conductivity on Audio 1,some people like to use ferrous on beaches but I have virtually graduated from a Sovereign and Excalibur which are both set with the conductivity audio so for me to change over could be a bit confusing.

Ex2 user -- cond & Audio 1 -- I have been thinking about changing to ferrous. Just don't want to have to re-learn the sounds.

I have frefered both depending on conditions. However peoples hearing is different in the sounds they hear the best. Either way there is a learning curve to learning the new sounds.

Explore XS- conductivity mode over ferrous for me. Easier to pick out silver.

Hello to all, was just reading this thread and figured I would give my opinion on it as well. I myself have only had my Quattro a short time. Have had about two hours to mess around with it befor the cold came again. I find that if you get a signal that is iffy in conductive audio, and you want to maybe get a better idea of the target, switch to ferrouse audio, and listen to the tone diffrance. Be sure to test this at home or someplace first on items you have found or have. Switch between the audio modes and you will notice a diffance. Hope this helps.

i have a quattro run it in all metal or you WILL miss things a lot of things. igot the book mastering the quattro and it opened a lot of good info. happy hunting. ;D

I am still very new with my explorer but yesterday while out I figured I would try something new. I was getting a lot of nulling due to iron content in the ground and it was slowing me down terribly. I put the detector in all metal mode and changed the sounds to ferrous, wow what a difference. Sure it made more noise but the sounds were distinguishable and using the smart find screen made it easier to see what was making the noise. While I didn't find anything great I do feel confident that I didn't miss anything due to nulling. Hope this helps someone out and I hope I made it understandable. ;D
