The videographer accusing the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources and the State of North Carolina of copyright infringement regarding images related to the Queen Anne’s Revenge has filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse a lower court’s July 2018 decision that favored the state. Intersal, which found the wreck, has also been involved in a lengthy lawsuit against the state regarding the use of its images. Intersal appealed an unfavorable ruling by a lower state court to the N.C. Supreme Court. QAR suit appealed to SCOTUS - News-Times: News
 
Now this will be interesting... and obviously poised for a chance to set a precedence.

This case might just have a chance to "pave a road" where currently it is a "dead end".
 
I'd be rallying all the big names in documentary filming to back him. If a precedence is set. Nobody's work and copywrite material is safe. James Cameron's titanic material would be the first inline along with any footage shot on a reserve or federal park lands to be stolen... slippery slope!!!
