Question on Local Pickup option

I have a pair of Water skis I put on craigslist. So far no takers. I am thinking about ebay with local pickup. Would this be treated like craigslist, meet some in public? What are the pros and cons? I have never had local pickup.

For Ebay, I would box them and send them UPS. I have sold water skis in the past on ebay and shipped UPS. The hardest part is finding a box but it is easy enough to make your own box if you can get big pieces of cardboard. Try the dumpsters at furniture stores. That is where I get mine.

If you do local pickup insist on cash only at the time of the pickup. If they use Paypal and you have no proof that they received the item, they can claim that they never received it, and Ebay will refund all the purchase price from your Paypal account.
