Hello everyone! I am considering buying a Time Ranger, but would like any opinions on the sniff and blanker features. To me the sniff seems to be a glorified notch system. I think the blanker feature could come in handy from time to time. Does it work good? I know that the actual size and composition of the item targeted can fool the detector, but does this feature typically do ok? One more thing, is the digital display difficult to see while outdoors? I have a Land Star and it is not always easy to see the display. Any thoughts will be apperciated. Thanks!

My modified time ranger with an addon Microcontroller can blank ANY target with a press of a button.

Right now it has the capability to identify all EURO coins (with name) and several older finnish coins.

I can also put it to a mode where it ignores all surface targets for example, or only accept those, or..4 inches etc..

AND the best part of it is that using discrimination does not slow it down. The recovery time is very fast.

The detector and the microcontroller runs with 2800mAH lithium polymer battery. Will not run out of charge.

This microcontroller has its own display and it is usable in dark too because of the backlight.

If I did not have a Time ranger, I would go and buy some other metal detector because nowadays they have bigger displays and ID number on those are way easier to see.
And, Time Ranger is out of production anyways.

The button there is now only for ACCEPT/REJECT all iron. I thought I would make it to run in different modes for beach/relic etc..but don't need it because it identifies the targets/trash surprisingly well. With REJECT iron device is all quiet and ignores all iron targets.

Ah, forgot to mention. Fisher F4 seems to be almost identical to time ranger, sounds are also alike. Display is of course more modern one, but I think it is almost the same machine. See youtube videos of F4 for example.

1st texas is the manufacturer of both. :)

F4 comes with 11" elliptical coil, that gives some advantage over basic Time Ranger. Coils are compatible from Time ranger to F4 and vice versa.
