I have been reading some logs on crh and I'm sure y'all get plenty of question on how to crh. Well I hope maybe y'all get help me too.
I went to my bank to buy some halves and they said they don't keep rolls they only have singles.
Do I just check other banks?
Can I order rolls from somewhere or is it better to go straight to the bank?
Which coin would be better for me to start with halves, qtrs or nickels?

Thanks hope I didn't ask to many stupid questions

It may be tough to find any quantity of halves in the teller trays, and if you want quantity, ask to order a $500 box.
In many cases, the bank will sell you individual rolls from the box if you cant afford all of them at once.

I have lousy luck with halves but great luck with dimes.

Ok dimes would work too, how much is a box of dimes?

Normally $250 for a box of dimes.

I search about $2,000 in customer-rolled dimes per month, between only two banks.

I average the same finds whether boxed or customer-rolled, but find more mercs from the boxes.

Thanks fistfull I think I'm gonna get my first box Thrusday and hope I have beginners luck

Thank you joe

Thanks Russell

The Dime boxes are $250, Quarters $500, Halves $500, Nickels $100 and $25 for the Cent boxes. I no longer CRH but if I did, I would probably concentrate on the Dime and Quarter boxes for Silver since so many folks are already searching Half Dollar boxes for Silver. If looking for other than Silver (i.e. Errors and Varieties), then I would mainly go with the Cent and Half Dollar boxes and Nickel boxes if looking for Buffalo, Liberty "V" and an occasional Shield Nickel as well as oddballs (i.e. Dimes accidentally or intentionally placed in Nickel rolls).

Hay Jude, if the banks you visit sell 'bags' off their coin counting machine, the odds could be greatly increased if by chance some old grandmother brought in a 3-pound coffee can of grandpas coin collection. If that were the case you would be able to capture the majority of the AG before it gets dilituted among all the other clad coins. Normally bags are double the quantity of a box, example, dimes $500. Ask if they sell their bags. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks dozer, my bank does have a coin machine. I went to bring some rolled coins a few weeks back and they don't take them rolled I had to put them in the machine. So that maybe for me rite?

Buy a Redbook, about $12. In 6 months and if you get interested in varieties, buy Cherry pickers guide. Volume 1 covers half cents through nickels. Volume 2 covers the rest. Current up to the year 2000, I think.
Good luck!

The Cherrypickers guide is nice too but it will run you about 30 bucks. Lots of coins in the Cherrypickers guide that aren't in the red book, double dies etc..

You can always buy a used, slightly out of date Cherrypickers Guide on ebay or Amazon, the general information will be there, the prices might be slightly low. That's what I did, I think I paid 12 bucks. You can always upgrade to a new one any time if you decide to, and even sell the old one.
