Questions about working with landowners

I have some questions.

1. what is considered a fare split?
2. do you use a written agreement?

no written Agreements unless they bring them up.
if someone Knocked on My door asking me to sign something,
I'd be suspicious.

Gentlemen's Agreements Are Better IMO
a Handshake goes a Long Way.

Split ? again only if They bring it Up,
& they get what they want.

Whether you show them Everything is Completely up to you,
& Your Concience.
Just remember, what you don't admit to in person or online
gets no Judgements.
But Personally, If I Found something Cool they wanted,
I'd ask if I Can Get a Pic of it first, Even IF I Need
to take it Home to do so. Or use it as an Excuse to stop back for another hunt.

Thanks "jeff of pa" that helps. I have yet to MD privately owned sites and needed some best practices to follow just in case. This is the deal. I have at least 4 sites that i spotted on google earth using historical images (1940's) showing farm houses. I still need to get to the county records office to establish current ownership. I just needed some pointers when contacting property owners.

Look for posted signs they are signed by the owner

Also, DON'T approach the owner with your detector in hand and your digging tool in the other. Leave them in your vehicle until you get (or not) permission. Also ask if you could look for coins....not 'valuable items' or 'jewelry'. Smile, be pleasent and thank him whether you get permission or not. I've been turned down only once in approx. 12 times asking.

Zoom in on Map you get Property ID Numbers
and see Property Boundries


the Property ID Numbers
should be searchable there also

if not Search the number you get on the Map here

Very cool web sites, I owe ya a beer thanks. It just so happens that one of the houses sets next to a roadway being expanded and apparently it's fallen under emanate domain by the state. The roadway expansion pretty much took the front half of the site but there were a couple of trees on the back side that still exist so I'm using them a reference points.

I'll post my findings.
