Quick hunt after work today gets me some CW lead and a little early 1900's silver!

Worked until about 1:30 today and walked over to a property in Winchester, VA and thought I would just hunt the edges of the fields since I didn't have much time. So I'm going along the edge of this one field and I saw where someone else had the same idea because I was seeing holes that were covered back in. Well I get a shallow signal with a vdi of 70-71 on the F75. Seeing as how this field was recently tilled up I was definitely digging any and all targets as they could have been pushed up to the surface. Well I see the "silver" like round shape in the little clump and first thought it was another tombac button, but looked closer and saw a reeded edge. Cool! Definitely wasn't expecting a silver coin. Knocked a little dirt off and saw the back and figured it was either a barber or a seated. Hoping for a CW era seated, but was still happy to see Ms. Barber staring at me as she saw the light of day after 108 years. After that I dug a CW finial piece, then a CW spencer carbine bullet, then a round ball and the last find was a flat button. Not bad considering that was all found within 25 minutes. Took longer to walk to the spot than it did to find the stuff. Gotta love those kinda hunts.

I found 10 silver coins total last year and I'm already at 3 for this year and it's only January. Let's hope the CW relics and the silver keep on flowing for me! Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Was it along the back of the corn field? I got about 3/4 way down then I turned toward the center, maybe I should have walked all the way down. Congrats I can't get a good look at it, it isn't opening up on her kindle.

There's the big cornfield then on the other side of the "road" there's the other fields where they have planted rye. It was on the edge of that field. Right as you pass the drainage pipe. Just maybe 5 inches into the field from the road. Thinking for sure a piece of aluminum just because that's what it just is 90 percent of the time or a pop top. lol

I tried over there last Saturday but it was way to wet, i dug a lot of rifle brass and nothing else. Is that your first finial?
