Quick hunt - Two CW bullets & an Eagle button

Thought I'd sneak this last post in before Santa arrives.
After work today I made a mad dash for the 1830's property before I had to head home. I worked on the side yard where I've been coming up with some pretty good finds. This time I hit it at a 90 degree angle from the last time. Nothing spectacular, but I did get:

*Two CW bullets. One is very large, and the other has a small hole in the bottom (smaller than most I find).
Can anyone ID these two bullets?

*Eagle button with "Waterbury Button Co." on the back mark. Post 1900's I'm sure.

*Play token, buckle piece, etc.

No coins today, but I'm not giving up. ;)

Happy holiday & Santa Sud's (my dog) sends his love. ;D

The Large one looks like an Enfield...

The other, to me, appears to be either a Sharps, Colt, or a Burnside... I can't seem to find a match to it just yet...

Re: Quick hunt - Two CW bullets & an Eagle button

Doug,
Hope all is well with you and those kids. Nate and Rachel have been keeping me busy and the weather has been not too cooperative for detecting. Although this last Saturday I was up for a hunt but Nate was busy all day with his friends.....

Maybe this week I can post some finds. I really only did a few hours around the first of Dec. I really did a lot of detecting this year and just needed a break from it. I feel like it's time to get back to it..... might have to wait until spring though.... we will see. It was a good year and It will take some time to compile the year end post....

Merry Christmas

Bob

The first one--could be an Enfield...but looks more like a .69cal Tower (Let's hope it's the latter!  :))   I can't find the second one in the McKee/Mason CW Projectiles book...  It could be projectile from a .56cal Colt revolving rifle.

Great Quick hunt!!!
I need to take a weekend and visit your neck of the woods!!!

Re: Quick hunt - Two CW bullets & an Eagle button

The non-grooved one looks like an Enfield and the other more thn likely a Sharps (I got a few of these from Virginia). Most of my Sharps have a solid base, but the Va ones have the bellybutton base.

He does have a vast collection of enfiels finds. I was with him when he dug his last one and for some reason its his favorite. Good job BB! :D

Hey MM, great finds. I am farly new to this wonderful hobby and I seen were you said you hit the area at a different angle, does that make a big differance and if so why? Thank you for any feedback you can provide!!!

Re: Quick hunt - Two CW bullets & an Eagle button

Looks like you got help on the questions. Now let me ask YOU one! Is that a white feather christmas tree??
Because if it is, I believe you are in danger of a big can of beer coming through your roof and landing on you!! ;D :D ;D 8) 8)

Welcome Sarge.
Sometimes a target may give off a better signal depending on what angle you approach it at. I've hit the same spots over and over at different angles, and continue to produce new finds.
Good luck to you,
MM

I have not yet seen it said, and so I will say it- your button is a CW era find also.

The smaller round is interesting. 'North South Trader's Civil War' magazine recently featured an article on some "funny" Western Theatre bullets, and while none were exactly as the smaller of your two, there are certainly some similarities. While you are not in the West, some of that southern ammo had a way of getting around.

Nice grouping.

Thanks for the button ID Plehbah. I started a CW display recently, so I will put that button in there.
Have a great 08'.
