Just went for a quick constitutional. Nice day, beautiful weather. Couldn't waste it.

Don't know my ammo. 🤷‍♂️
Was more impressed by finding that tiny lil charm! Must've been paying good attention!

Thanks for peeking!

The skirt on Civil war era Minie bullets worked great with blackpowder charges expanding the skirt to seal the bore.
Without using a patch like with roundballs to seal like a gasket of sorts. The ball slightly upset by the burning powder charge and the patch engaging the rifling..

The common Minie had a pointed front with a slight flat on it's nose. Or no flat.
Your bullet has a wadcutter type flat nose.
I don't know of any used in the Civil War but am certainly no authority on them either.

Modern versions vary. From very close to original Minies to ...whatever anyone wants to modify a mold for.

Here's a modern version not quite like yours , but flat nosed like a wadcutter style bullet.
The skirt is what Minie came up with. Similar profile modern(er) pistol bullets might appear similar but flat based. That and they're smaller.)
