The ground here in north Jersey is completely frozen, and I've always heard soil in wooded areas doesn't freeze so quick. I had a quick half hour break while my daughter napped so I grabbed my gear and headed to the woods at the end of my block. I've never hunted these woods before so I kind of just wanted to see what kind of signals I'd get. I did, of course, bring along my Teknetics pick axe, you know, just in case. I was expecting a really really junky terrain, but it was quite the opposite! So much so that I quickly moved into zero discrimination and didn't hear much clatter. Most of what I found were beer cans, pull tabs, and bottle caps. Got 2 nails and some clad: 1 quarter and 1 penny. Both 1980s. By the looks of them I'm not sure what the heck is going on with this soil!!! Should I be afraid?
