Primary Interest:
Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
this one is a small thin, so much more recent, Rabbit Island type point. Most likely in the 200 to 500 year old range. Made of white chalcedony with black interior dots. It is about an inch long and if it wasn't for the shape and my experience spotting, it would have passed for a broken piece of glass on the beach. My youngest and I play a game called "spot the arrowhead" where if I find a point I call him over and he tries to see what I see. This time I called him over and honest to god, it took him five minutes to spot it. He had to get on his hands and knees and move his hands slowly over it before he finally found it. Now here is the rub...it was a sunny day and this point was lit up like neon with nothing in the sand around it for maybe 4 or 5 inches. Just goes to show...

That's a beauty 200 to 500 years old wow amazing

In my early days of hunting my mentor and I would be walking and he would say I guess you don't won't that one an sometimes it would be right next to my foot print if not in it. Great find.!!!!!!

When I was a boy, Dad planted a few for me in the garden to get me fired up, it worked, he didn't tell me until years later.

come to think of it, he also had me digging in the garden for pirate treasure.:laughing7:

Best way for him to learn. Good way to spend time together.

I took a good friends daughters relic hunting and when I saw the first whole one, I made about a 2 foot circle around with my flipping stick and called over the oldest daughter who was about 15 and told her that if she could find it in the circle, she could have it. She picked it up in seconds. The next one, I did the same for the younger daughter with the same results. When I saw a third point, I called the older daughter over and she hollered at me "I'll find my own damn points" …. and she did. She is in her early 30s and still has the eye!

aint that the truth....sometimes i won't pick one up on purpose...mark the spot...turn around and walk a bit away...come back at a different angle....and after that sometimes it takes a lot of effort to spot it again. the way i see it, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be.

i am lucky I don't have to salt my hunts, but we do have to hike a bit to get away from civilization. On the other hand the one my wife just found was smack dab right next to the most traveled spot on the beach..high bank, one more tide would have washed it away.
