I got this for $3.00 . I haven't been able to find any info on it yet . I put some fresh batteries in it and it seems to work . A little light flashes every few seconds . With headphones , you hear a click when the light flashes .

I think is really cool and its definitely worth a lot more than $3.00 to the right person. I would have bought it in heartbeat. As a fan of the "Fallout" series of video games, I would have paid at least $50.00 for it. I bet there are collectors of this type of atomic age scientific doo-dads would pay substantially more than that. This is a completely uneducated opinion, but that is not something you come across every day. I wonder what system it depends upon for detecting radioactivity. I'd assume it works something like a geiger counter and has a gas filled container with gasses that respond to radiation. Great find!

Very cool. I couldn't find any info. on the company. Probably something you could order out of the back of a Popular Mechanics mag. back in the 50's. I think it's missing the wand though. Is that a plug for a jack on the front?

I think it was for prospecting in the "Uranium Rush". Back in the 50s some people thought that they were going to get rich prospecting for uranium.

Diggumup - The unit is the wand - the jack on the front is for headphones . I have a huge stack of Popular Mechanics , Pop. Science , Mec. illustrated . from the 40's , 50's , 60's I'll dig them out of the closet , maybe I'll find it in one .

It's a Geiger Counter. The Brass Tube in the bottom of photo two is a Muller Tube.

Every time you hear a click it is Radio Active Partical being detected.

Have fun.

Hold it up to your Smoke Detector and it will sing for you. LOL

Remarkable good condition considering its age. Let us know if it springs to life when brought near a source of radiation. I believe an old luminous wrist watch dial may work.

If you want to sell it on eBay, the fact that you have the original instructions and warranty makes it a sweeter deal.
