Railroad button or pin?

I found this today next to a old train station all I could figure was at one point it was gold plated. The gems look real and the back says 1/10 10k g.f. Any help would be appreciated I couldn't find a age or meaning.thanks in advance

Nice find, congrats. SP Railroad employee "years of service" lapel pin. The holes in the top would have held small stones, usually red colored, each indicating 5 or 10 years of service to the company. The straight pin was mounted in the middle of the back and was held onto the lapel by a clutch device. Keep hitting that site! Happy Hunting, Sub
