Ok, so I upped my usual orders at my source banks to 4 boxes at one, and 6 at another. Both vault tellers assured me that I could do that. Today was the day I would pick up the first two at one of them. They called and left the usual message since I don't usually answer at work. But when I checked their message it wasnt the usual "we have your coins", it was more like "something happened with your order and we couldn't get it in." I call to find out what happened and it turns out Loomis had just this morning placed a restriction on that bank that they could only order 30 rolls of halves per order for 60 a week since they order twice a week.

As if that wasn't enough, I call my other source bank, which is the same bank but a different branch and tell them what happened. Only to find out that pretty much the same thing happened to them, Loomis restricted them to 1 box per week. Now I'm stuck with an average of only 3.2 boxes a week(my third source bank only orders every 2 weeks but orders from Brinks) when I'm capable of so much more. At least I can still dump at my dump bank, so all I have to do is restructure my source network, or maybe order a bunch of dimes instead.

I'm wondering why Loomis decided to do what they did, and if it's happened to anyone else. Before you blame me for being a "monster" CRHer, I was just doing what I read about other people doing. For instance, Rich Hartford ordered 8 boxes at one location, CardsnCoins ordered 6, and the "black x" guy in Utah supposedly does TWENTY boxes a week. Perhaps I was the one that finally overloaded the system, but that feels discriminatory since the "black x" guy probably got away with his big orders for much longer than I've even been CRHing.

You didn't overload the system. My best guess is that your order banks pay Loomis a flat rate to pick up and deliver coins. In turn, Loomis restricts the maximum amount of coin they will deliver at that fixed rate. Your order would put them over the maximum.

The first source bank I mentioned had no problem ordering 1 box for me twice a week, and I did that a few times with no problems. The vault teller even assured me that I could up an order to 4 boxes. In theory, my 1 box orders would have set the bank over the max then, since Loomis cut them down to 30 rolls per order.

Loomis is in the service industry. When those in that industry are faced with higher costs - in this case I strongly suspect its the almost daily rising cost of fuel - they pass those costs down to the customer in the form of higher rates, surcharges, etc. Loomis probably just recently hit your banks with a rate increase. Which means that in order to keep paying Loomis the same amount as before, they have to cut back on what they order.

Ok, that makes sense, and could very well be what happened. The vault teller at my second source bank said she would have more detailed information later. I do apologize if I sounded rude or argumentative, but what happened today didn't exactly put me in the best of moods, as you can probably imagine.

"Why am I the only one in trouble? They did it too."

Remind me never to rob a bank with you. :laughing9:

Just take your pinch like a man, and figure out a "work around" to better YOUR situation.

Which banks got restrictions?

that way.... I don't go to those but I only do 2 boxes per week.

The 2 source banks were both Utah Community Credit Union banks. First one in American Fork, second one at UVU. Perhaps Loomis hit all UCCU locations with a restriction on halves. Sad, as I was really becoming friends with the tellers at both branches.

Im still getting different information from different tellers on how ordering boxes works. My guess is that CRHin has more then tripled in the last year tho and has put a strain on everybody.

Ever consider that the bank may be "pulling your leg"? (That's what grandma called it.LOL)

Update:

Today's box gave me a 1964 and 3 40%s. I also found a bank that will order me 2 boxes for Wednesday. The operation is coming back again hopefully.
