I finally made it out for a few hours detecting and the ground was good and thawed everywhere except the deeper woods. I found a variety of things including a 1864 Nova Scotia one cent and a super creepy iron/lead lady in a dress. The find of the day (and year so far) for me was a 1861 New Brunswick half cent. I’ve always had my sights on finding someday the rare 1862 Nova Scotia one cent so it was a shock when I got home and found out what i had. I thought when I dug it that it was just the similar style Nova Scotia half cent. Here’s some quick info on them for anyone who doesn’t know...
“The rare New Brunswick half cent was not a required denomination by the province, however, 222,800 were produced by the Royal Mint in error. Most were melted, but a few thousand that managed to survive before the error was known were believed to become added to the Nova Scotia half cent bound for Halifax, Nova Scotia.”
Thanks for looking and I’m glad I finally got out to do some digging! [emoji16][emoji106]
