RARE 1877 INDIAN HEAD

Back in the 1980's, I was metal detecting in an old Midwest park and dug up this 1877 Indian Head. As shown in the picture, it came out of the ground pretty green but it has pretty good detail and it is, still, a rare 1877. I've never sent it in for grading but wonder what it would grade in that condition.

From looking at the picture I would say it is in good condition. It does not appear to have the pitting that is usually found on dug coins.
Anyway, the reverse looks nice and the date on the obverse is very legible.
Go here http://coinauctionshelp.com/how_to_grade_indian_cents.html and look at the top coin. It seems very comparable to yours. And that kind of condition should bring you $800-$1000. They are rare and you have an awesome find!!!

Great find, yes it should grade as a Good (G-4).

However, those values are very high.

As it is (cleaned & scratched) the value would be much lower.


Still an amazing find.
