Rare 1930's Cast Iron Cap Gun and 44g of Sterling Silver

Dug all this stuff out of the trash today.

My favorite artifact is this 1930's "Scout" brand cast iron cap gun. It is single action and single shot - and it still works! This is the first old cast iron cap gun that I've found that is still in working order. It is 7 inches long.

Next up are these 4 sterling silver chains, combined they weigh just over 44 grams.

Some other cool artifacts:

Finally here's an item that may not look like much but I find it interesting. It's a "Kresge" brand fly swatter. Kresge was a chain of 5 & 10 cent stores that was founded in 1899 and operated until it evolved into what we now call Kmart. But now you know the rest of the story. :laughing7:

found in the trash!?!?! Wow those are some good finds and a good amount of silver! Congrats

You didn't even mention the two skeleton keys!

For some strange reason, I really like skeleton keys.

Nice finds!

Awesome saves! Congrats!

Toy gun is great. I really like the keys tho. We have the exact same toe nail clipper! Lol!
It is truly amazing what gets thrown out!

Crazy good recoveries.
Congrats!

The toe nail clipper was made in Germany by Heups and Hermes, probably 1930's - definitely pre-WWII anyway.
This one's seen better days though :laughing7:

I would be very happy with any of that stuff!!!!

Amazing how well made the old stuff is.
Future generations will be pulling our holographic "remnants" out of the "cloud". :sly:

Someone cleaned out Grampa's treasures and threw them out. Sad in a way, but then you saved them. My hero and some neat finds at that.

One man's trash is another man's treasure!

Wow, good day!!

Love it all. Those are some really great finds...

Beautiful finds UM, love the '30s cap gun and the background history on S.S. Kresge Co.! :occasion14:

Congrats on the silver chains too,
Dave

Wow nice job UnderMiner....:hello2:

My grandmother got after me one time with a fly swatter like the one you found. I ran up under the bed thinking she wouldn't crawl up under there after me. Boy was I wrong. Ms. Beulah crawled up under there, pulled me out and wore my ass out with that fly swatter. Neat finds! Did you find them in recently thrown out stuff or dig them up?...d2

Someone around my neighborhood was throwing it away. Usually if I see someone tossing out stuff that looks good I'll come back later in the evening, pick it all up, and then sort through it. I keep the good stuff and toss out whatever's left over that I don't want - or sometimes I'll sell it at a yard sale. That's a funny story you have there, I hope you don't have a phobia toward flyswatters as a result of that. :laughing7:
